FAMILY ENGAGEMENT AND ACCEPTANCE TRAINING (FEAT)
The Gender & Family Project's Family Engagement and Acceptance Training (FEAT) is grant funded by the Administration for Children Services (ACS) to train New York State licensed LGBTQIA+ mental health practitioners in couple and family therapy. Starting in Fall of 2025, FEAT trainees participate in Ackerman’s one-year Dual (Foundations of Family Therapy and Live Clinical Supervision) program tuition-free. The Live Clinical Supervision course is focused specifically on transgender, gender non-conforming, and nonbinary (TGNCNB) youth clients and their families.

LIVE CLINICAL TRAINING
Transgender & Gender Diverse Specialty Track
In addition to the Ackerman Institute for the Family’s renowned Core Track in relational/systemic family therapy, we are pleased to announce a “Transgender & Gender Diverse” Specialty Track led by Alexis Diaz, LCSW!
Specialty Tracks are designed for clinicians who want to hone their skills with certain populations for focused impact, while staying rooted in a powerful, flexible model that encompasses the full range of couple and family dynamics across all clinical work. Every trainee is immersed in Ackerman’s relational approach—moving beyond individual treatment models to understand people within their family and cultural systems.
Trainings will be held virtually in the fall, meeting weekly on Wednesdays from 5:00-9:00pm ET.
